Care home boosts donations to homeless charity
A significant donation from Teal Beck care home in Otley helped Homeless Hampers, a Leeds based charity, to support the homeless and those living in poverty in the Yorkshire region.
The donation included 40 refrigerators, 20 sets of bedside tables, chest of drawers and wardrobes and numerous toasters and kettles. These items will go to support many people to equip their homes with basic items as they find a place to live.
The donation was possible as residents at Teal Beck were moving to Wharfside, a brand new home opening in Westgate.
Amy Maloney, Mergers and Acquisitions Project Manager, met with the charity to support the removals.
She said:
We were very keen to have the items left at Teal Beck House care home repurposed and go to others who need them. Homeless Hampers seemed like a great charity to partner with because they help local people in a very concrete way.
Tina Suryavansi, Trustee at Homeless Hampers, said:
The donations of white appliances and furniture from Teal Beck House care home made to Homeless Hampers will help us improve the lives of our homeless community that are being rehoused, some have been homeless for years and are finally moving into a place they can call home. The support helps us provide furniture and white appliance packages to help them build their new homes. Our ethos is to reduce landfill and Anchor has helped us to achieve this. We are humbled.
