Our approach to retirement housing to rent means living with Anchor can be an affordable option for many older people.

Your monthly payment will include the rent for your retirement property, as well as the service charge. And, for the majority of our locations, some heating, hot water and water rates are included.

Our service charge covers all the cost of the amenities you share with your neighbours, including the manager service, our Anchor on Call 24-hour emergency call service, repairs and maintenance services, window cleaning, gardening and the heating, lighting and upkeep of communal areas.

The money you pay will vary depending on where you live and what services you receive, and you will be given clear information on these charges when you view an Anchor property.

You will be responsible for your own council tax, phone bills and electricity bills for your property.

Moving to an Anchor retirement property to rent you can rest assured that you have a well maintained home and access to a wide range of services to support you for the long term.

Making easy and timely payments

The easiest way for payments to be made on time to Anchor is by Direct Debit, and when you come to live with us your local manager will be able to advise you on how to get this set up. If you do not have a bank account we can discuss alternative ways of paying and tell you how one-off payments can be made by debit or credit card.

Help paying your rent and Anchor's Be Wise service

Many older people in the UK don’t claim the benefits they are entitled to. Claiming what is rightfully yours is not something to be embarrassed of or likened to a handout. There is a range of financial support available to help pay for housing costs such as rent and service charges and it is important you receive the help you are eligible for.

Our Be Wise service offers free and confidential advice to all Anchor residents on a range of topics, from benefit entitlement to reducing energy usage and money saving tips, to help you make the most of your money.
