Understanding the care home enquiry process
We know you’ll love living with Anchor and we pride ourselves on providing a warm and reassuring welcome to new care home residents.
On this page you’ll find key information about the care home enquiry process and the steps to move in.
Making an enquiry
To start your enquiry, simply search for an Anchor care home near you. You’ll be able to enquire directly from the contact details on that page.
We’ll provide you with full details of the care home or care homes that you’re interested in, along with any other information you’d like, such as sample menus and activity schedules.
Viewing our care homes
Whether you’re looking to stay with us permanently, or for a short break, we’d be delighted to take you on a show round of the care home in person. Simply book a visit with the home manager once you’ve made your enquiry.
If you or your loved one doesn’t live nearby or are unable to visit in person we can provide a virtual show round. Either way, we’re keen to show you what daily life is like living with us and for you to meet our friendly team.
Organising an assessment
We hope you decide following your visit that you or your loved one would like to move into the home, in which case we’ll organise a pre-assessment to ensure we are able to meet all of your care needs.
You may already have had a care needs assessment from the local authority and have a care plan in place which can be a useful starting point for our conversations, so we will ask about these. Our pre-assessment is a chance for us to find out more about you, the challenges you face and the way you like to live your life. It's a conversation about how our team could work with you to support your needs, independence, and wellbeing.
Moving in
Once you are confident in your choice of new home, our friendly onsite teams will discuss every aspect of moving-in with you in advance to make sure you know exactly what to expect.
This way you can feel confident, safe and welcomed in the knowledge that you or your loved one will be happy and supported in your new home.
Before you move in, we will find out if there are any of your possessions that you wish us to place in your room before you arrive. Please bring your family photographs and most treasured possessions to help make your room your home.
Visiting and your loved ones
Our care homes are dedicated to helping our residents maintain links in the local area and with their loved ones. We understand how important visits are to help your loved one settle in and we welcome regular visits from family and friends.
We also actively support residents living with us to enjoy visits away from their new home into the local area and to nearby places of interest.
Each of our homes is different and the manager of the care home you’re interested in will provide all the information you need around visiting.
