West Hall care home welcomes local school for Remembrance Service
West Hall care home in West Byfleet welcomed students from Feltonfleet School in Cobham for a special Remembrance Service honouring those who served and commemorating the sacrifices made.
The care home held the service in its garden room on Thursday (6 November), which was led by Revd Dr Keith Elford, Vicar of West Byfleet and New Haw.
Included in the service were songs performed by Feltonfleet School’s choir. It concluded with the two-minute silence.
Ben Baldwin, Head of Upper School at Feltonfleet, said:
The Year 7 and 8 choir visited West Hall to perform for residents as part of the Remembrance Day commemorations. Their thoughtful selection of songs and heartfelt performance brought smiles to everyone present, creating a moving moment of remembrance and community connection.
Year 7 pupil Jack added:
It was a special moment to see how much our music meant to residents. I felt proud to be part of something that helped people remember. Visiting the care home reminded me how powerful music can be, and I was glad we could share that with others.
Paula Rifai, General Manager of West Hall care home, said:
Remembrance Day means so much to our residents. Many of them have direct connections, either through their own service or through loved ones who served. We wanted to do something that honoured that history. We plan to hold another service next year, and for many more after that.
