Springfield resident celebrates 106th birthday with family and friends
A resident at Springfield care home in Bradford has celebrated her 106th birthday surrounded by family, friends and fellow residents.
Evelyn Wood marked the milestone on Tuesday 14 July with a special celebration at the home, joined by her daughter, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also received a birthday card from The King.
Evelyn has lived at Springfield since July 2023 and enjoyed an afternoon of food, refreshments and celebrations with her loved ones.
Born and raised in Bradford, Evelyn worked in burling and mending before marrying her husband, Percy, in 1940. When asked the secret to her long life, she simply says: "Black tea and a nice salad."
The Springfield team helped make the occasion extra special, decorating the home and bringing everyone together to celebrate Evelyn's remarkable milestone.
Vicki Hemsworth, Home Manager at Springfield care home, said:
It was a real privilege to celebrate Evelyn's remarkable 106th birthday with her family and friends. She is a much-loved member of our Springfield community and has lived such an interesting life.
Seeing all of her loved ones come together to mark this special milestone made for a truly memorable day, and we are delighted to have been part of her celebrations.
