Canterbury House care home celebrates recent makeover with mayor visit

The Mayor of Hadleigh, Councillor Susan Monks, visited Canterbury House care home recently to cut the red ribbon following its recent makeover. 

The care home, situated off Gallows Hill, underwent a refurbishment of all its communal areas including the resident lounges and dining rooms.

To mark the occasion, Canterbury House held an open day, welcoming members of the local community to view the impressive changes up close.

Carolina Carvalho, Home Manager at Canterbury House, said:

We’re incredibly proud of the work that has been done at the home, and it was amazing to be able to share it with the community, and in particular the Mayor of Hadleigh!

This makeover isn’t just about paint and furniture — it’s about ensuring we continue to provide a home where our residents feel comfortable, safe, and valued.

Councillor Monks added:

It was a pleasure to be invited along to celebrate Canterbury House’s recent refurbishment and of course cut the red ribbon. It was lovely meeting Carolina and her team, who were all extremely warm and welcoming. 

Carolina gave me a tour of the building so I could see the changes up close, and I was delighted to be able to meet some of the residents too.

Canterbury House is always keen to open its doors to the local community, and that will continue over the festive period. On Tuesday 16 December, the care home will be hosting its own Christmas Market where visitors can expect live music and plenty of stalls!
