My mother stayed for 2 weeks of respite care to allow me to go on a much-needed holiday. My mother had a lovely garden suite room with en-suite & small kitchenette area. My Mother was very appreciative of the level of care & attention she received. She enjoyed the meals & ate really well whilst she was there. The staff were all friendly & caring. T… he activities were well organised & my mother enjoyed herself. She came home looking bright & healthy. And, she is eager to return in September for another holiday! The Administrator, in particular, was very kind & patient in organising my mother's stay. The home is very clean, comfortable & the gardens are beautiful. Thank you for your care & attention. Much appreciated

My mum recently moved into Devonshire house, originally for 2 weeks respite as she was struggling at home. From the moment we first took her for a look around she fell in love with the place. Since being in Devonshire house my mum is really happy and cannot stop praising the staff and especially the food. If there is something that does not suit on… the menu they are happy to cook an alternative. The home is always very clean and tidy and other residents are also very happy. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful whenever we visit. My Mum is enjoying herself so much that she has decided that she is definitely staying. It is very comforting for us to know that my mum is being so well looked after 24hrs a day. Also a big thank you to her carer who has been really helpful and helped with any concerns that we did have.

This care home is amazing. My mum has recently taken residence at Devonshire House and the professionalism and knowledge of the staff has made this process less stressful. The care home is home from home actually probably better than home! Warm and cosy, spotlessly clean everywhere, no smells that you sometimes come across in some care homes. The … catering is good, lovely home cooked food and as the chef walks through he checks everyone enjoyed their meal. The bedrooms are spacious with a large bathroom and modern shower. Cosy bed linens. To find somewhere so lovely for my mother after such a stressful time means I can finally get back to a life and routine again. Mum seems happy and settled and she seems very much at home. I can highly recommend Devonshire House with no hesitation.

My mother moved to Devonshire House a year ago and has been very happy there. The staff are wonderful and kind and really get to know the residents well. They are always on hand when she needs something or simply to stop and chat. It feels like a home from home.

My mother has been in Devonshire House since March 2024. The staff are all very caring and thoughtful. Mum says they look after her very well here. The food she says is good. It's a very happy place to be. On a negative: I think more care should be taken in cleaning rooms. On occasion tops of furniture are not cleaned nor has any furniture been mo… ved to clean under the bed or chest of drawers.

My mother has been a resident in the dementia ward for just over a year. Over this time her care has been amazing. The staff are quite simply the kindest, most patient team of people. Whenever I visit they always know where she is, what she's been doing and her general state of mind. They always have time and are so patient. Food is well cooked wit… h lots of variety and good-sized portions.

Care homes

Our current private weekly fee at Devonshire House is from £1460.00. This can vary due to resident dependency, size of room and location. Our Home Manager and other colleagues will be happy to discuss fees and any other questions you may have about paying for care.

What is included in care home fees?

For many people, moving to a care home is a big decision and it can be difficult to know where to start. Care home fees are based on a range of factors, including specific care needs, which can change over time.

Living in an Anchor care home you can be confident that a single fee covers the cost of your personally tailored 24 hour care and support, utility bills and meals, as well as a fantastic range of daily activities. In an Anchor care home our weekly charge includes:
- cost of personal care
- accommodation
- utilities e.g. heating and light
- all resident catering, meals, snacks and drinks
- laundry undertaken on the premises
- television licence, including for person use
- housekeeping services.

The following extra items and services are not covered by the weekly fees, however we can arrange for them to be provided (at an additional cost):
- professional hairdressing
- personal copies of newspapers or magazines
- personal purchases such as stationery, confectionery, toiletries etc.
- clothing, shoes and slippers
- dry cleaning
- private telephone line rental and calls and cable connections.

In the absence of free provision by the NHS, we can also arrange for the following healthcare services to be provided, these will be charged in addition to the weekly fees:
- chiropody
- optometry
- dentistry
- physiotherapy
- other privately arranged healthcare
- care staff accompaniment to regular medical appointments.

No upfront deposit is required at any of Anchor’s care homes to secure a room.

At Anchor we pride ourselves on offering a truly tailored approach to care and therefore need to fully understand your needs to provide you with an accurate fee estimate. Please call us to discuss your specific care needs today. Alternatively we welcome you to visit us to discuss your situation face-to-face.

Want more information on care home fees?

Learning about the different funding options available to you can also help you feel confident in your decisions. Anchor know that securing care home funding can sometimes appear a rather daunting task and so to help we have put together a free guide covering requesting assistance, top up fees and third-party payments.
