Residents at Nelson Lodge celebrate Christmas lights switch on event
Residents at a care home in St Neots, Cambridgeshire spread light and cheer as they marked the festive season with the Christmas lights switch-on.
The switching on of the Christmas lights has become an annual tradition across Anchor care homes, including at Nelson Lodge in Eaton Socon.
Residents at Nelson Lodge have also been creating their own handmade decorations for the care home’s Christmas tree as part of Anchor’s Creative Christmas campaign which aims to highlight the positive impact creativity can have on people’s wellbeing during the festive season.
Resident Joan was delighted to see the Christmas lights go on, saying:
Every year, Nelson Lodge does a great job of making it feel like Christmas. And being able to create our own decorations for the tree was extra special.
Pauline Davies, Deputy Manager of Nelson Lodge care home, said:
Christmas at Nelson Lodge is always full of sparkle and lights. The Christmas lights switch on is always an important event.
Whatever your age, singing carols and eating mince pies around the tree is something we can all share in, not forgetting putting the all-important topper on the tree. While switching on the Christmas lights is an important part of our festivities, we’re also looking forward to getting creative with the Christmas cake competition.
Each year, care homes across Anchor compete in regional Christmas cake competitions. As part of Anchor’s Creative Christmas campaign, how the cakes are decorated will influence massively the result.
