Live music and fundraising activities for Comic Relief!
Glendale care home in Walton-on-Thames has organised activities such as a ’Beat the Manager’ relay race, the classic egg and spoon event, a tombola and face painting for.
All these activities are being held in aid of the Comic Relief, the national charity fundraising event taking place on Friday 18 March which raises money to help people live free from poverty, violence and discrimination.
The events will be taking place throughout the day with all residents and colleagues taking part to do their bit. A live music act has also been organised to entertain residents and visitors during the day.
Friends, family and members of the public who would like to sponsor the residents can do so by visiting this link, with all donations going to Comic Relief. The team and residents will also be wearing the classic Comic Relief red noses too!
Akua Buabeng, Manager at Glendale care home said:
We’re really excited to be raising money for Comic Relief. Not only are these events raising money for a good cause, they’re also a lot of fun for our residents to take part in and for us to organise!
We’re proud to do our part for Comic Relief. Our residents are always keen to help good causes. Meaningful activities also help with our residents’ physical and mental well-being.
The Comic Relief event has sparked a lot of interest from residents at the home.
Andrew Porter, 95, said he was looking forward to having a fun-filled day with lots of laughter with all the other residents and the team there. He said:
The day will be a lot of fun, all in aid of a really important cause. There’s always a lot of great events here. I’ve always liked to raise money for Comic Relief and other charities and I’m really glad I can keep doing so while living here.
