Denham Garden Village welcomes VIPs for Silver Sunday

Denham Garden Village in Uxbridge enjoyed a weekend of exciting activities, along with visits from VIPs in celebration of Silver Sunday, a National Day of Celebration and recognition of older people.

The fun festivities including live music, a classical Indian dance recital and a tea party on Sunday, 9 October. Residents were joined by Countess Howe, Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, and our Chief Executive, Sarah Jones. 

Along with the festivities, the guests also enjoyed sharing cups of tea together as part of our new #TalesOverTea initiative, calling on the nation to harness our love of tea by chatting to family members over a cuppa and sharing stories about their lives and family histories. All the residents and guests enjoyed the celebrations and had a wonderful time with the activities put on over the weekend.

Resident Gurdeep Chadha, 75, who organised the weekend’s activities was delighted by their success. She said:

We had a wonderful time and I’m delighted everything came together so well! The activities were so much fun, and the live music was wonderful, thanks so much to musicians and dancers for performing for us! Thank you also to all of our wonderful sponsors.

Silver Sunday is an important event, and it meant a lot that all of us could celebrate it together and that all our guests came to celebrate it with us. Silver Sunday celebrates the fact that we can still do many things in later life and still have fun and we definitely proved that this weekend!
