Tales over Tea
2022
Drinking tea and having a specific way of making the perfect cup, is a habit that has been passed down through many generations in the UK.
It comes as no surprise that tea is the second most popular beverage in the UK behind water, with our new research suggesting 63% of the general population enjoying a cup.
Although sitting down with a cup of tea and having a chat with a loved one, friend, or colleague is enjoyed by people across the nation, new research has shown that a surprising number of people are left in the dark when it comes to their family history.
While 64% of respondents knew how their family take their tea, only 53% knew about their family history. The lack of knowledge isn’t through disinterest as 76% of people said they regret not knowing more about older loved ones or wished they knew more about their family history.
Share a pot of tea and share a memory
People are eager to learn more about their family history and enjoying a cup of tea together provides a perfect opportunity for that. We’re partnering with Tea from the Manor to launch two new tea blends so people can spend more time together over a cup of tea, sharing stories and information about their past.
Residents were heavily involved in the creation of the blends as they came together for a tea tasting session and chose their favourite flavours. They'll be able to enjoy the teas in a communal lounge with other residents and loved ones, sharing fond memories and anecdotes.
The two tea blends include a warming Lemon and Ginger Tea with hints of hibiscus and apple, as well as a refreshing Red Berry blend encompassing grapes, elderberries, blackcurrants and blueberries.

Sarah Jones, Chief Executive of Anchor says:
Tea is a quintessentially British drink and is extremely popular with our residents, so it’s been a real joy for residents to be involved in a tea-tasting process to create two of our very own unique blends of Anchor Tea. We’re encouraging everyone to take some time to chat with loved ones about their family histories, especially over a cuppa – many of us will be amazed by what we discover.
