Townend Close care home brings residents closer together with a military inspired summer fair
Care colleagues at Townend Close care home in Keighley dressed up in military attire and invited local veterans to join in the fun. Also in attendance was The Chairman of the Skipton Royal British Legion and his wife, George and Janice Martin.
Townend Close care colleagues also opened their home for the day to residents from fellow Anchor care homes Gills Top and Borrage House in Ripon.
Activities held throughout the day included welly wanging, egg and spoon races, and raffles. There was also live entertainment from the Tango Man.
Lian Heaton, Home Manager at Anchor’s Townend Close care home, said:
What a wonderful day we all had. It was wonderful to see so many people, everyone singing along to old war songs, engaging with others, and meeting new people from the community.
Resident Freda Myers, said:
It was fabulous! Everything was perfect from the weather to the entertainment, to the food.
Fellow resident Dorothy Hall, added:
I really enjoyed the Tango Man, but also meeting and making new friends.
The summer fair coincided with Townend Close submitting its Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status application. If successful, Townend Close will join fellow Anchor care homes already with VFF status including Eric Morecambe House, and Lightbowne Hall in Moston.
