Shared celebrations and seasonal traditions at Anchor care homes in London
Residents and colleagues at our care homes across London are embracing the festive spirit. From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity has brought smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness.
These celebrations are a wonderful reminder of the positive impact creativity and community can have on people’s wellbeing during the festive season.
Silk Court in Bethnal Green and Norton House in Westminster kicked off their festive celebrations with their spectacular Christmas light switch-ons. The annual tradition is a much-loved moment in the lead-up to Christmas, bringing joy to residents and the local community. Residents have also been busy creating their own decorations to hang on their care homes’ Christmas trees.
This year, Silk Court took festivities to new heights with a memorable festive get together with the local parent and toddler music group. The afternoon was filled with classic Christmas songs that had everyone singing along. Colleagues, residents, and visitors joined in the celebrations, and the atmosphere was full of warmth and nostalgia as familiar festive melodies echoed through the home.
Renae Dixon, Home Manager at Silk Court, says:
Christmas is always a memorable time across Anchor care homes for everyone involved. It’s a time when residents, their families, and our colleagues come together to celebrate, reminisce, and create new memories. From the light switch-ons to the intergenerational celebrations. It’s been amazing to see how much joy is being shared across our home and beyond.
Linda Ingram, daughter of Helen Ingram said:
Here's Mum strutting her stuff on the catwalk at Silk Court. You can see she's having fun & enjoying herself. Silk Court always go that extra mile to put on activities that are fun and engaging for the residents. I always feel Mum is in safe hands when she's at Silk Court. All the staff have Mum's best interests at heart and treat her with love, kindness and respect. For that, I'm truly grateful.
Agnes, resident at Silk Court said:
It's excellent here at Christmas although it is my first Christmas away from home. It Different from back home as it is quiet here, I like how different cultures living here come together for Christmas you see at my age the best gifts are memories, and my new friends here are helping me make new ones.
