Residents and colleagues at our Cambridgeshire care homes come together to celebrate festive season
Residents and colleagues at Anchor care homes across Cambridgeshire are embracing the festive spirit in style. From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity is bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness.
These celebrations are a wonderful reminder of the positive impact creativity and community can have on people’s wellbeing during the festive season.
Clayburn Court in Peterborough and Nelson Lodge in St Neots kicked off their festive celebrations with their spectacular Christmas lights switch-ons. The annual tradition is a much-loved moment in the lead-up to Christmas, bringing joy to residents and the local community. Residents have also been busy creating their own decorations to hang on their care homes’ Christmas trees.
Festive cheer has filled Nelson Lodge in St Neots this December, with a lively programme of activities bringing joy to residents. This month has brought some very festive visitors, filling Nelson Lodge with joy and cheer. Residents were delighted to meet KitKat the pony, whose presence brought smiles to everyone’s faces. The home even had an early appearance from Father Christmas himself in the Christmas grotto.
Jeanette Whitbread, Home Manager at Nelson Lodge says:
We’re having so much fun this Christmas celebrating all together – it's wonderful to see just how much joy our activities are bringing. Animals can have such a positive impact on our residents’ wellbeing – it’s been great to see everyone smiling and enjoying the visit from [name] the pony. Thank you so much to everyone who has played a part in making this time of year so special
Marion, resident at Nelson Lodge, says:
The festive activities at Nelson Lodge have been so much fun. From exploring the Christmas fair that meant I could get all my present shopping ticked off, to getting creative with some fun Christmas crafts – there’s been so many different events and activities happening with so much to look forward to.
