Manor house resident visited by school children for 100th Birthday
Frances Thoms from Manor House Barnard Castle celebrated turning 100 at a party with friends and relatives.
Centenarian Frances blew out her candles at the party held for her at Manor House care home on John Street where she has lived for six years.
To celebrate the landmark occasion, Frances also received a special visit from the children at St Mary's RC Primary School. The children each provided her with cards, adding to the one Frances received from the King.
Before moving to Manor House care home, Frances lived in Northallerton from 1984 until 2018.
Frances celebrated 60 years of marriage to her late husband Ted in 2013. The couple have four children – Jocelyn, Stephen, Clive and Wendy.
Frances previously liked to be involved with the local church of England and The Women’s Institute. She loves lace making, knitting, and gardening. Till this day she pursues her passion for playing the piano/keyboard.
Debbie Wilson, manager of Manor House care home, said:
Frances is a very kind and considerate lady who is an absolute pleasure to live with. She is the type of person that will do anything for anyone and expect nothing in return.
Staff and residents will often see Frances walking around the garden in her bright red coat come rain or shine. She will be out to help keep active and of course to help keep the garden tidy as she loves her gardening.
