Huddersfield care home manager wins top regional award at Great British Care Awards
A care home manager from Tolson Grange care home in Huddersfield has triumphed at the Yorkshire and Humberside regional finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023, which recognises excellence across the care sector.
Catherine Matthews won the Care Innovator Award in the Yorkshire and Humberside at a regional final ceremony hosted at The Armouries in Leeds on 2 November.
The Great British Care Awards honours individuals who have gone the extra mile to help improve the lives of residents within their care.
Judges concluded that Catherine demonstrated clear vision, passion and dedication to the people in her care at Tolson Grange, as well as their families. She was praised for her forward thinking in providing care and support to her residents and the members of her team.
Having won the regional award, Catherine will now go on to represent the whole of Yorkshire and Humberside in the Care Innovator Award category in the national finals taking place in early 2024.
Catherine was delighted to win her regional final, saying:
It’s amazing! I was so happy just to be nominated but I honestly can’t believe I’ve won! I love doing what I do and it’s wonderful to be recognised by the judges for the Care Innovator Award!
Thank you to everyone who nominated and supported me and congratulations to all the other regional finalists as well. Roll on the national finals! I hope I do Anchor’s Tolson Grange proud and bring back a national award to Huddersfield!
