The Manor House Barnard Castle plans fundraising bake sale for Comic Relief

A special bake sale to raise money to support Comic Relief has been organised by The Manor House Barnard Castle care home in County Durham. 

The team will be baking some delicious treats in aid of the Comic Relief, the national charity fundraising event taking place on Friday 18 March. The money raised will support Comic Relief’s mission to help people live free from poverty, violence and discrimination. 

The bake sale will be put on inside the home for visitors, residents and colleagues. Members of the public who would like to support fundraising efforts for Comic Relief can also do so by following the link here. The team and residents will also be wearing the classic Comic Relief red noses during the day! 

Sharon Harrison, Manager at The Manor House Barnard Castle, said:

We’re really excited to be raising money for Comic Relief. Not only are these events raising money for a good cause, they’re also a lot of fun for our residents to take part in and us to organise! 

We’re proud to do our part for Comic Relief. Our residents are always keen to help good causes. Meaningful activities such as these also help with our residents’ physical and mental well-being. 

The Comic Relief event has sparked a lot of interest from residents at the home. 

Gill Storey, 82, who has lived at the care home for seven years, said she was looking forward to the bake sale. She said:

The day will be a lot of fun all in aid of a really important cause. There’s always a lot of great events here. I’ve always liked to raise money for Comic Relief and other charities and I’m really glad I can keep doing so while living here!
