Lily the rabbit is a local legend

The Beeches care home is celebrating Lily the pet rabbit, in honour of April being National Pet Month and Easter recently taking place.  

Lily has become a popular figure at The Beeches, where she has lived for six years. Since her arrival, Lily has charmed everyone with her adorable antics.  

Every day, Lily can be found either playing in her pen or cuddling with residents in the lounge. She has become a delightful companion to the residents who all enjoy making a fuss over her.  

Lily has very happily settled into life at the care home. When she’s not enjoying cuddles or play time she enjoys treats of kale and other green goodies fed to her by residents. She has become a beloved fixture and has even received recognition from outside the home as well! 

Michelle Daniels, Manager of The Beeches care home said:

Lily’s an absolute star. She's a lovely rabbit and really makes everyone’s day. She absolutely loves cuddles, and our residents love her!  

“We love animals like Lily. Studies have shown that the health of our residents improves when they interact with animals like Lily. Some of our residents have their own pets, but we also have regular visits from the pets of colleagues and other visitors too.  

Sheila Moss, who has lived at The Beeches for six years, said:

I absolutely love Lily, I think everyone does! She’s so sweet when she’s giving us all cuddles and running around in her pen.  

I used to have all sorts of pets like my horse Joey, and I’ve always loved animals, so it’s lovely to have Lily around. It’s honestly so great that The Beeches is so pet friendly!

The Beeches, like many of our properties, encourages older people to bring pets with them when they move in.
