Capturing special moments at The Mill House care home
The Mill House care home team was joined by pupils from Greatwood Community Primary School to bury a time capsule and capture moments that can be recalled fondly in the future.
Those who find the time capsule in years to come will discover information and photographs about the site and its development. They will also learn more about who lives and works at the care home.
Local dignitaries including Sheila Bentley, Deputy Mayor for Skipton, Councillor Simon Myers and Councillor Chris Rose of Craven District Council joined the children to mark the occasion.
Sheila Bentley, Deputy Mayor for Skipton, comments:
Well done to all the children on their hard work. It’s clear to see that a lot of thought, time and effort has gone into this project. It’s been inspiring to hear about their visions for the future – it’s also been wonderful to get a preview of The Mill House which will be a great addition to our community.
Rob Martin, Managing Director of Care Services, said:
The time capsule burial was a wonderful day – we were so happy to host the children of Greatwood Community Primary School.
It’s always great to engage with the local community, particularly ahead of a new care home opening. For us, helping people enjoy later life is something we are passionate about. It’s an exciting time for us as we celebrate the opening of our latest state-of-the-art care home, The Mill House.
What better way to mark our new opening than sealing memories away for future generations to find.
Tom Finch, Teacher at Greatwood Community Primary School, said: “Working on the time capsule has been a wonderful project for the children and has brought out some really interesting thoughts and reflections.
It has been a great learning exercise and chance for them to connect with another generation, to hear their stories and to understand the importance of being part of the wider community.
Overlooking the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, The Mill House is a new, luxury care home in Sackville Street, Skipton with 86 ensuite rooms and eight independent living apartments.
