Skipton veteran celebrates 100th birthday
A care home resident at The Mill House in Skipton has celebrated reaching 100 years of age.
Frank England was joined by members of his family on Friday 6 September to celebrate the landmark occasion.
A party was held at the home where Frank has lived for the past year. Frank enjoyed a glass of champagne, while being serenaded by the All Together Trinity Choir.
Frank served in the Second World War and was knighted in France. After celebrating reaching 100, Frank said he much preferred to look forward than dwell on the past.
Sharleen Polley, Home Manager at The Mill House care home, said:
Frank is an incredible man for his age. He spends hours in his room making various items out of wood.
He has made the home some fantastic silhouettes of soldiers for Remembrance Sunday. He has so many amazing tales to tell.
Frank has lived in Anchor care homes for four years. He was among the first to move into The Mill House, Skipton when it officially opened in August 2023.
The Mill House, a 102-bed care home, including eight residential care suites in the adjoining historic Mill Lodge, won the prestigious National Luxury Care Home of the Year Award for 2024 by property development giants Knight Frank.
The Mill House offers a highly individualised style of living, including a hair and beauty salon, café bar, and private landscaped gardens in a tranquil canal-side setting.
