Skelton Court care home residents enjoy dream trip
Residents from Skelton Court care home in Skelton-in-Cleveland have had their wish for a trip of a lifetime granted by charity Geniewish.
Geniewish contacted the care team at Anchor’s Skelton Court asking if they could provide one of their wishes for older people to their residents, and 10 residents took an all-expenses paid trip along the river Tees onboard the luxury riverboat Princess Teesside.
The residents took in the scenery talking about their memories and reminiscing about the changes they have seen over the years on either side of the river. They were also treated to afternoon tea provided while on board.
Peter McKay, 74, said he could not believe it when he found out they were getting a trip on the Princess Teesside. Peter said:
It was a lovely, I enjoyed everything, the food the scenery and the camaraderie as well!
Cheryl Davidson, from Geniewish, said:
We’re delighted we could provide everyone such a lovely trip and that everyone had so much fun! At Geniewish, we want to create a positive impact on peoples’ lives. We want people to have wishes and dreams that come true and continue to lead a fulfilled life.
David Wood, Community Partnership Manager for Anchor’s Skelton Court care home, said:
It was a lovely day, and everyone had a lot of fun! Thank you so much to Geniewish for organising such a wonderful trip!
