Sandholme Fold celebrates former Head Chef with special VIP event
Sandholme Fold care home in Halifax welcomed back a familiar face on Friday 22 May, as residents and colleagues came together to celebrate the remarkable contribution of former Head Chef and Disco Host, Enid Roper.
Now a resident at Trinity Fold, Enid returned to Sandholme Fold as the guest of honour, accompanied by her family. The team organised a special afternoon in recognition of her years of service, placing Enid at the centre of the celebrations with a VIP table where she spent time reminiscing with the current kitchen team and sharing fond memories.
A highlight of the day saw Enid return to her roots, serving cakes to residents once more - a touching moment that brought smiles to all in attendance. She later joined in the afternoon’s entertainment, enjoying musical bingo and a lively disco, before taking a tour of the kitchen where she had spent many years leading the team.
Reflecting on the visit, Enid said:
The day was lovely and I enjoyed seeing the kitchen again.
Iain Winstanley, Wellness Co-ordinator at Sandholme Fold, added:
Celebrating Enid today has been nothing short of magical. She gave so many years of love, energy and joy to Sandholme Fold, and it was our privilege to honour her in return. Events like this remind me why my job is so special - they show the heart of our homes, where teams come together effortlessly to make residents feel valued, seen and celebrated.
Enid’s daughters also praised the event, saying:
It has been an amazing afternoon – to see our mother celebrated in this way, we are so grateful for the effort.
