Minister and local MP, Jess Phillips, visits Anchor’s Madeleine House care home
A Government Minister and MP for Birmingham Yardley, Jess Phillips, visited her local Anchor care home, Madeleine House, in the heart of her constituency to see how the organisation is delivering care for its residents.
The Minister met residents and carers at the care home, which is part of Anchor, a Purpose Coalition partner, and England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life.
Jess Phillips has been the Member of Parliament for Birmingham Yardley since 2015. She was appointed Minister for Safeguarding and Violence against Women and Girls in the new Labour Government following the General Election in July 2024. She grew up in Birmingham and still lives there with her family.
Jess Phillips was joined by Anchor Chief Executive, Sarah Jones, and was given a tour of Madeleine House and its facilities, chatting with residents and care colleagues to find out about life at the care home and the range of services it offers.
Jess Phillips also met Madeleine House care home’s District Manager, Charmah Gauntlett, who said:
It was great to welcome our local MP to Madeleine House and we were able to show her all the fantastic person-centred care services we provide. Residents really enjoyed meeting her and having the opportunity to share their own experiences of living at the home.
Jess Phillips MP said:
It was fantastic to visit the residents of Madeleine House care home and hear for myself how Anchor is caring for its residents. It was also important to speak to the wonderful staff there who provide such a dedicated service to support them.
Anchor Chief Executive, Sarah Jones, said:
We were delighted to host Jess at Madeleine House care home. I know the residents and the team really enjoyed speaking with her and it was a great opportunity for Jess to see first-hand how our care colleagues are committed to delivering the highest standards of care and serving the local community.
