Mayflower Court enjoys busy December full of festive fun

Residents at Mayflower Court care home in Southampton are enjoying a busy month of celebrations – including a visit from Christmas donkeys and a festive fair.

Older people living at Mayflower Court are looking forward to getting in the festive spirit over the coming month with a packed programme of events.

It started with pupils from Woodlands School coming in to help residents decorate their Christmas tree before the Lord Mayor of Southampton opened the home’s traditional Christmas fair.

The fair featured mince pies, mulled wine, a range of stalls with tickets for the home’s Christmas raffle on sale.

Portswood Primary School choir entertained residents with carols in the home’s library and Highfield Church will be gave a special Christmas service. The Solent Gay Men's Chorus also performed Christmas songs to round off a festive day.

The home has also welcomed children from Hopscotch Nursery to do Christmas crafts with residents and Springhill school pupils came to the home to sing Christmas carols. Mayflower Court is also participating in our annual Christmas cake competition.

Christmas donkeys will be visiting the home at 4pm on December 22 and residents will gather in the library on Christmas Day for the King’s Speech followed by games and charades. Kirsten Tennant, Deputy Manager at Mayflower Court, said:

We have a full month of lovely activities lined up at Mayflower Court and we are really looking forward to giving our residents a special month

We love that we are getting so much involvement from the local community with such a wide range of events planned and we plan to celebrate a wonderful time of year with a song in our hearts.
