Mayflower has cared for my mother since May 2024. I live abroad and am comforted by the level of care provided by the Mayflower team. Several times a week the team ensure that I can speak to Mum on the phone and are always readily available to let me know how Mum is doing. Mayflower provides a welcoming home environment and has ensured that we are … part of the new family dynamic. Thank you, Mayflower!

The care home seems to be run very well with fantastic staff. My mother is always well looked after with plenty of actives to keep her busy throughout the day. Her room has a small garden attached to it for which reminds her of her own garden in the past and allows her to sit out in it weather permitting. She also loves walking round the larger ga… rden on sunny days. Her only criticism has been the food standard has gone down over the past year there doesn't seem to be the variety that they use to have.

We have been very grateful for the loving support from all the team during a period of great distress for my mother when she was too frail to attend an important family funeral. The home arranged a special room to view the funeral streaming. The team have also been very supportive in helping my mother think about her wishes when it comes to her ow… n death and prepared with her a detailed plan for how she would like to be cared for.

I find it very comforting that someone is always there to take care of me. I find my room excellent and very comfortable. I find the staff excellent and are always on hand to help. I enjoy the food and like that I can either eat in my room or in the dining room. The most important thing is having someone that can help as my health is not what it … used to be. I also like the fact I can still go out by myself whenever I want.

I have visited my mother-in-law twice a year for 3 years as I live abroad. Every visit was unannounced and unplanned on every occasion, Mum was in excellent health, well-fed and nurtured and obviously well cared for. Her cleanliness and her surroundings were exceptional. I would be very happy to reside here in the future should my need arise.

We would like to thank the team at Mayflower Court following a difficult time with my mother, she has certainly had some issues due to her Dementia and ongoing anxiety both affecting her behaviour which could have compromised her staying at Mayflower. That said the care home leaders along with their team and in conjunction with support from NHS spe… cialists have done everything they could to settle my mother down, with this great effort on their part they have achieved this and my mother is now much more settled and we are very thankful for this. Very recently they have also helped a great deal with her mobility, again another good positive. For us this change and my mother continuing to be at Mayflower Court is a great relief as the home is truly exceptional with even better caring people looking after her.

My aunt was cared for with a rare combination of professionalism and unfailing kindness in her last days. Her dignity was respected at all times. The family also felt superbly well supported at this difficult time and throughout her residency.

Our current private weekly fee at Mayflower Court is from £1,600. This can vary due to resident dependency, size of room and location. Our Home Manager and other colleagues will be happy to discuss fees and any other questions you may have about paying for care.

What is included in care home fees?

For many people, moving to a care home is a big decision and it can be difficult to know where to start. Care home fees are based on a range of factors, including specific care needs, which can change over time.

Living in an Anchor care home you can be confident that a single fee covers the cost of your personally tailored 24 hour care and support, utility bills and meals, as well as a fantastic range of daily activities. In an Anchor care home our weekly charge includes:
- cost of personal care
- accommodation
- utilities e.g. heating and light
- all resident catering, meals, snacks and drinks
- laundry undertaken on the premises
- television licence, including for person use
- housekeeping services.

The following extra items and services are not covered by the weekly fees, however we can arrange for them to be provided (at an additional cost):
- professional hairdressing
- personal copies of newspapers or magazines
- personal purchases such as stationery, confectionery, toiletries etc.
- clothing, shoes and slippers
- dry cleaning
- private telephone line rental and calls and cable connections.

In the absence of free provision by the NHS, we can also arrange for the following healthcare services to be provided, these will be charged in addition to the weekly fees:
- chiropody
- optometry
- dentistry
- physiotherapy
- other privately arranged healthcare
- care staff accompaniment to regular medical appointments.

No upfront deposit is required at any of Anchor’s care homes to secure a room.

At Anchor we pride ourselves on offering a truly tailored approach to care and therefore need to fully understand your needs to provide you with an accurate fee estimate. Please call us to discuss your specific care needs today. Alternatively we welcome you to visit us to discuss your situation face-to-face.

Want more information on care home fees?

Learning about the different funding options available to you can also help you feel confident in your decisions. Anchor know that securing care home funding can sometimes appear a rather daunting task and so to help we have put together a free guide covering requesting assistance, top up fees and third-party payments.

A review from the daughter of Mayflower Court resident

“I would really like to say a huge thank you to the team leader for helping my mother. The staff were having problems encouraging her to wash etc. He kindly phoned me and came up with some brilliant ideas that I believe are working. He is kind, informative, calm and very helpful both to me and Mum. He’s really well trained in his caring techniques and an absolute credit to your team and Mayflower Court. Please send him my best wishes and a massive thank you.”
