Beechfield Lodge resident Elsie celebrates special birthday

Elsie Goodall, a resident at Beechfield Lodge care home, recently celebrated turning 106. 

Elsie was joined by her niece and nephew in law for lunch before blowing out her candles at a party held for her at Beechfield Lodge care home in Salford. She also received a surprise visit from the Ceremonial Mayor of the City of Salford, Councillor Gina Reynold. Fellow residents joined the celebration as well as a local singer who was specially arranged to serenade Elsie on her special day. 

In commemoration of the special day, Elsie received a telegram from the King and dozens of other cards wishing her a happy birthday. She was overjoyed when the festivities started early with a surprise celebration from the local pub.
    
A lifelong Salford resident, Elsie was born just off Cross Lane. She grew up with two brothers, Ben and Edward, and her parents owned a greengrocers shop in Pendleton. After attending St John primary school, she worked for Radox and then Co-op Tea Warehouse before settling at Salford Royal Hospital where she stayed until she retired. 

Sharon Bollesty, Manager at Beechfield Lodge care home, said:

Elsie is a lovely lady, who likes enjoying a meal with other residents at the Royal Sovereign. She always wants to know what activities are going on at the home so she can choose which she’d like to participate in.

Before moving to Beechfield Lodge care home one year ago she lived in her own home. We feel very fortunate to be able to celebrate her 106th birthday with her this year!
