Swapping Southampton for Brazil with a carnival themed party

Mayflower Court in Southampton threw a Brazil themed summer carnival to celebrate the summer months. 

A vibrant carnival summer party was organised for residents, the team, and members of the public. The gardens were decorated with classic Brazilian carnival decorations, some of which were made by the residents. While guests celebrated with carnival masks and took part in all sorts of fun activities and games! 

Traditional Brazilian food stalls were available for everyone to enjoy some exotic treats and guests also enjoyed some refreshing drinks such as Caipirinha and a Pina Colada Mocktail throughout the day.  

Paul Bestic, a resident of Mayflower Court care home, said: “We had a lovely day, and everyone really enjoyed it. I’ve never been to a carnival before, but this was a lot of fun!” 

Kirsten Tennant, Deputy Manager at Mayflower Court care home, said: “The sun was shining for our very own Brazilian carnival! It was a great day and we loved welcoming relatives to the home to celebrate the summer months and socialise.  

"Events like this are great for residents’ mental and physical wellbeing as they get everyone outside and are fun and creative. They’re also a lot of fun for us to put on too!”
