Salvatore and Violet share their love story

This Valentine’s Day, Salvatore and Violet Cotugno who live at The Manor House care home in Knaresborough, are sharing their advice to young couples tying the knot. 

The couple met in Italy. Violet, who was born in Kent, was working in Italy where she met Salvatore who is from Napoli. From first sight, Salvatore thought Violet was beautiful and the couple wed in Napoli in 1962 and have been married for 61 years. 

Salvatore and Violet have three children and seven grandchildren with two more on the way. When asked their secret to a successful marriage they said:

It’s important to trust one another always and care for each other too. Just work at it and enjoy your life together!

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, The Manor House care home will be hosting various arts and crafts activities, cocktail making sessions, biscuit decorating, and cheesecake baking. The celebrations will culminate on the 14 February with a special themed lunch in the home’s dining rooms followed by a Happy Hearts Hop in the afternoon with entertainment by local singer Brandan Cooke, heart themed treats, a raffle and lots of dancing.

We’re really looking forward to all the Valentine’s Day celebrations at the home. We have a brilliant lineup of activities, and the Happy Hearts Hop is sure to be a lot of fun. 

It’s great to have Salvatore and Violet here to join in the celebrations. Their love story is truly inspiring and it’s amazing to see them together at the home.
