The Manor House goes back in time
The Manor House in Barnard Castle turned back time at a spectacular roaring twenties party.
Residents and colleagues from The Manor House care home enjoyed a 1920s themed disco held in the home’s communal lounge. To help transport residents through time, the home provided residents with 1920s style beaded and feathered headbands which everyone enjoyed when posing at a photobooth created by the care team.
The event was part of our Zest Dance, an exciting and fun wellbeing activity programme designed for residents and colleagues of all abilities. The programme, which is held at our care homes across the country, is a focused activity around dancing and music and helps residents achieve the recommended target of 30 minutes of moderate physical activity per day.
Sharon Harrison, Manager of The Manor House care home, said:
The roaring twenties party was a great success and really got everyone up and moving!
Accessible and inclusive physical activity is so important. Dancing is a great way to bring our residents and colleagues together, boost wellbeing and just make people happy.
The care team at The Manor House care home collaborates with residents to create a range of activities to suit their interests and abilities. Residents can enjoy group activities, have some quiet time in one of the home’s library areas or even dig into home-made cakes when visiting the home’s bar.
Geraldine, a resident of The Manor House care home, said:
I loved dancing when I was young and the 1920s disco was good fun! The care team did a great job, it was lovely to see everyone sing and dance.
