Manchester care home assistant wins top regional award

A Manchester care home assistant has triumphed at the North West regional finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023, which recognises excellence across the care sector.

Theresa Abraham, from Lightbowne Hall in Moston, won The Dementia Carer Award in the North West regional at a ceremony hosted at Kimpton Clocktower, Manchester on 11 November.

The Great British Care Awards honours individuals who have gone the extra mile to help improve the lives of residents within their care.

Judges concluded that Theresa demonstrated clear vision, passion and dedication to the people in her care at Lightbowne Hall, as well as their families. She was praised for her forward thinking in providing care and support to her residents and the members of her team. 

The judges concluded that Theresa demonstrated “true person-centred care” and was a “strong mentor and excels in dementia care.

Having won the regional award, Theresa will now go on to represent the whole of North West in the Dementia Carer Award category in the national finals taking place in early 2024.

Theresa was delighted to win her regional final, saying:
