Knaresborough care home staff recognised at Great British Care Awards

Joanne Meredith and Katie Pickering, from The Manor House Knaresborough in Hambleton Grove, was named as the best Care Home Activity Organisers in Yorkshire and Humber at an award ceremony hosted at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The Great British Care Awards pays tribute to individuals who have gone the extra mile to help improve the lives of residents within their care.

Judges concluded that Joanne and Katie demonstrated clear vision, passion and dedication to the people in their care, as well as their families and worked well with their colleagues at The Manor House Knaresborough. The two were praised by the judges for creating fun and imaginative activities for their residents such as their parent and baby group, Tiny Tots and Teacups, and the regular complimentary hot chocolate afternoons they host for the local school children, which the residents love to help with.

Having won their regional award, the duo will now go on to represent the whole of the Yorkshire and Humber care sector in the Care Home Activity Organiser category in the National Finals taking place in March 2023.

Joanne was delighted to have won, saying:

It hasn’t quite sunk in yet; it was wonderful just to be nominated but I’m really honoured we’ve won Yorkshire and Humber Care Home Activity Organiser Award!

Katie agreed with her colleague, saying:

Thank you to everyone who nominated and supported us and congratulations to all the other Yorkshire and Humber winners as well. Roll on the national finals in March, I hope we do The Manor House Knaresborough proud and bring back a national award to Knaresborough!
