Ferendune Court treated to traditional Irish entertainment

Residents at Ferendune Court care home had a taste of the Emerald Isle after they were entertained by a traditional singer and dance troupe as part of their Silver Sunday celebrations.

Residents were delighted by the performances of Delores-Vintage Singer and the Maguire O'Shea Academy Of Irish Dance group. Delores performed several traditional vintage tunes and Maguire O’Shea academy of Irish dance astonished everyone with their incredible dancing skills!

The team at Ferendune Court organised the performances as part of the home’s Autumn programme of activities.

The residents all thoroughly enjoyed the music and dancing. Some of them even sang along with the vintage tunes and a few of the residents and care team even had a go at joining with the dancers!

Resident Evelyn Herbert said:

It was wonderful, I’ve always enjoyed Irish music and dancing but never got to see such wonderful performances up close before.

They were all fantastically talented. I just don’t know how the dancers are able to move so gracefully! I do hope they come again. It’s lovely how much fun we have here at Anchor’s Ferendune Court.

Alana Sprules, Deputy Manager at Ferendune Court, said the singers and dancers were part of a variety of new activities at the home. Alana said:

Thank you very much to Delores and Maguire O'Shea Academy Of Irish Dance group for entertaining us! They brought a lot of joy to the residents and the Ferendune team. We’re all looking forward to a full schedule of entertainment and activities like this over the next few months.

The Ferendune Court team prides itself on making sure that our residents are offered both physical and mental stimulation. As well as continuing with activities such as arts and crafts and cake making, we will be launching several new activities for the residents, including regular visits from Poppy the dinky therapy pony and we have invited the Maguire O’Shea academy back at Christmas time!
