Dawson Lodge resident celebrates turning 100
Centenarian Mrs Kathleen Hewitt blew out her candles at a party held for her at Dawson Lodge care home in Southampton, where she has lived for four years. The party was also attended by her friends and relatives.
Grandmother of seven grandchildren, Mrs Hewitt was born in Essex and moved to Dawson Lodge in 2018.
Along with the traditional birthday telegram from the King, Kathleen received special birthday treats such as flowers, cakes and chocolates.
Enjoying her birthday celebrations with family and friends at Dawson Lodge, Mrs Hewitt said:
I didn’t think I could live this far and perhaps the secret to my long life is being a strong-willed lady and living through the war!
Mitchelle Perry, Manager at Dawson Lodge care home said:
Mrs Hewitt is a lovely person, although a very private person, she enjoys having a good chat and a laugh with colleagues in the home and always receives regular visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoys a good wander around the garden especially during the summer as she loves watching the flowers bloom.
