Stock condition surveys being conducted in our rented homes
We’re carrying out stock condition surveys in all our rented homes to help us understand what future improvements may be needed and how we can keep your home in good condition for years to come.
These surveys give us detailed information about each building - including the condition of roofs, windows, doors, kitchens, and bathrooms. They also help us make sure your home remains safe and free from any serious hazards.
What is a stock condition survey?
A stock condition survey is a visual inspection of both the inside and outside of your home. The surveyor looks at the age and condition of key features such as the kitchen, bathroom, windows and doors, roof, and gutters.
Why is my home being surveyed?
We carry out these surveys across all our rented homes to make sure the information we hold about their condition is accurate and up to date.
Taking part doesn’t mean that work will take place in your home straight away - it simply helps us plan future maintenance and improvement works across all our properties.
Who will be carrying out the survey?
We’re working with Savills, an experienced company that has completed similar surveys for many housing providers across the UK. Surveyors will visit your home and show photographic ID when they arrive. If you’re not at home, they’ll note the missed appointment and revisit the next day.
What does the survey involve?
The surveyor will need access to all rooms, including the loft and any outdoor areas. They may bring a ladder and ask a few short questions to confirm details.
Photos may be taken for internal records only - these won’t be shared publicly.
How will I know when my survey will take place?
We’re working to complete everything by the end of March next year, so activity will move quickly. Savills will write directly to residents to let you know when their visit is due. If you’re not at home, they’ll note the missed appointment and revisit the next day.
How long will it take?
The survey usually takes around 30 minutes, depending on the size of your home.
Do leaseholders need a survey?
No, surveys are only being carried out in rented (tenanted) homes.
Will there be any cost to me?
No - there is no cost to tenants.
