December's Resident Involvement Updates
We encourage residents to help shape and improve our services through the resident involvement groups. Below are some of the recent actions and improvements driven by these groups.
This month, the Resident’s Council met to discuss key topics.
The Resident’s Council act as a voice for Anchor residents. This means that when they meet to discuss important issues, we’re ensuring resident views are considered at every step of the way.
As a resident sounding board, the Resident’s Council was informed of important and timely issues, including:
- Regulatory compliance: we’re ensuring residents are involved with every step of our regulatory improvements, helping shape our services from resident’s perspective
- Clearer cost communications: involved residents have told us that our letters about costs could be clearer, so from now on, the content will have been reviewed by other involved residents to make sure it is easy to understand.
- Celebrating success: The Scrutiny Panel Chair won an award at a recent Tpas conference for a Panel review on antisocial behaviour. This review resulted in a new Community Safety team being created. This is a huge achievement that displays the difference residents can make.
During the Resident’s Council meeting we also use the opportunity to discuss topics such as the new Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, complaints handling and repairs timescales. We also use this time to explain complex processes, including things like service charges, insurance costs and changes from the new damp mould and condensation law.
The Council is working hard to make sure residents are heard and that services keep improving. Inclusion is important to our Anchor colleagues and members of the Resident’s Council. All residents are welcome to get involved. If you have any issues or concerns about taking part, please get in touch and we will do our best to support you.
Are you interested in getting involved and having your say about Anchor services?
If so, we’d love to hear from you. To make sure we are hearing from a wide range of residents, we’d especially welcome interested residents from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background.
You’ll be able to influence Anchor’s decision making and make sure Anchor is properly considering the diversity of its residents.
There are over 70 residents on the resident involvement groups. We’d love to grow that number to 110. There is also the Resident Voice Panel, currently just under 2,000 residents but we’d like many more. They get invites to feed into important projects via surveys and focus groups as well as helping to choose new contractors.
