Meadow Court is best in class for community engagement

Anchor’s Meadow Court housing location in Sarisbury Green has won the Retirement Living Award for Best Community Engagement.

The Awards aim to seek out the best retirement housing projects and integrated retirement communities and services in the UK, looking for innovation, quality and assurance. The winners were announced at a lunchtime reception during the Care Show at the NEC Birmingham. 

Anchor’s Meadow Court opened in 2019 and offers 70 one and two-bedroom apartments for people over the age of 55 within landscaped gardens in the tranquil Hampshire village of Sarisbury Green. The area offers a wealth of natural beauty and attractive walks along the Solent and around Holly Hill Woodland Park and Manor Farm Country Park. Residents also benefit from being a short walk from nearby shops and restaurants and the River Hamble. 

The judges were impressed by the community engagement, both between colleagues and residents, but also promoted between residents themselves. They praised the “thriving community spirit” that Anchor has fostered at the location.  

Activities on offer at Meadow Court include a film club, a music club, quiz nights, exercise classes and a bridge club. Residents can also take an active role in organising their own events and receive support if they want to start a new group or club. The local community is also welcome as many events are hosted at the location, including a Summer Car Show and an annual Christmas Fair.
