Greenside Court brings residents and local representatives together
Recently, residents at Anchor’s Greenside Court in Sunderland welcomed local MP, and Minister for Women and Equalities, Bridget Phillipson and other community representatives to a Cuppa and Chat event, creating an opportunity to build connections and talk about the future of their neighbourhood.
Residents from nearby Thorntree Mews also attended, alongside Natasha McDonough, Director and Vice President of the North East Chamber of Commerce, and Stephen O’Brien, Liberal Democrat councillor.
The visit was in relation to the Pride in Place initiative, which is developing a 10-year vision for the Thorney Close area. As a member of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board, Bridget met with residents to hear what matters most to them and what they would like to see in the future.
Connecting with the local community
The event gave residents the chance to reflect on their experiences of Thorney Close and share their ideas for its future. The local elected representatives found the conversations insightful as residents’ perspectives can help inform plans for the area, with the aim of making a lasting difference for current and future generations.
Events like this offer opportunities for residents to connect with local people and representatives and feel part of the community, as well as giving them a voice in conversations about its future.
