Festive celebrations bring joy to Anchor care homes across Hampshire

Residents and colleagues at our care homes across Hampshire are embracing the festive spirit in style. From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity is bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness. 

Homes across the region – including Dawson Lodge, Mayflower Court, Orchard Gardens and Willow Gardens – kicked off their festive celebrations with their spectacular Christmas lights switch-ons. The annual tradition is a much-loved moment in the lead-up to Christmas, bringing joy to residents and the local community. Residents have also been busy creating their own beautiful decorations to hang on their care homes’ Christmas trees. 

Holiday cheer has been spreading throughout Mayflower Court in Southampton with an exciting programme of activities throughout December. The home’s usual film schedule has taken a festive twist with screenings of beloved films, A Christmas Carol and Elf. To get into the Christmas spirit, residents have even tried their hand at making Christmas treats - from gingerbread cocktails to pear crumble and gingerbread men.  

Rhiannon Crofts, Home Manager at Mayflower Court, says: “Christmas is always a memorable and special time across Anchor care homes. From the lights switch-ons to cake competitions, to Christmas crafts, we’re all having so much fun getting involved in the various activities here at Mayflower Court. There’s really been something for everyone!” 

Bev, resident at Mayflower Court, says: “I really love taking part in all the Christmas activities here at Mayflower Court - they remind me of when I was a child doing them with my mum. She comes to see me each week with my son, and I get to show them everything I’ve made. She loves it too.”
