Care homes across Northamptonshire embrace the festive season
Residents and colleagues at care homes across Northamptonshire are embracing the festive spirit in style.
From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity is bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness. These celebrations are a wonderful reminder of the positive impact creativity and community can have on people’s wellbeing during the festive season.
Six homes across the region – including Glenvale Park, Overstone House, Priors Hall, Timken Grange, Westhill Park, and Bilton Court kicked off their festive celebrations with their spectacular Christmas lights switch-ons. The annual tradition is a much-loved moment in the lead-up to Christmas, bringing joy to residents and the local community. Residents have also been busy creating their own decorations to hang on their care homes’ Christmas trees.
This year, Glenvale Park in Wellingborough have been taking festivities to new heights with an exciting programme of activities throughout December. Residents have been enjoying visits to Glenvale School to watch the magical nativity play, doing their Christmas shopping at the home’s bustling Christmas Fayre, and welcoming families to a fun-filled community toddler group Christmas party.
Carley Calder, Home Manager at Glenvale Park, says:
Christmas is always memorable across Anchor care homes. It’s a time when residents, their families, and our colleagues come together to celebrate, share traditions, and create new memories. Watching people light up during the switch-ons, hearing the laughter during the baking sessions, and seeing the joy on residents’ faces when the schoolchildren came to sing - it’s been amazing to see just how much joy is being shared across our home and beyond.
Nora, resident at Glenvale Park, says:
It’s been wonderful so far this December, everyone at Glenvale Park has really got into the Christmas spirt and put on some great activities. I loved going to the panto it was such a fun trip. And I loved meeting the ponies at the Christmas Fayre.
We are proud of the real community feel each of our care homes have, where people interact with fellow residents, families and friends, and are supported to continue doing all the things they enjoy. Christmas is a special time of year for so many reasons and colleagues always take this great opportunity to organise some extra special activities. Find out more about our approach to wellness here.
