Berkeley Court couple recently celebrate Valentine’s Day after 54 years together
A happy couple who live at Berkeley Court care home in Leeds have celebrated Valentine’s Day after 54 years together.
John and Maureen Eadie live together at Berkeley Court care home where they enjoy quiz shows, puzzle books and reading the morning newspaper together.
John is 84 and was very athletic growing up. He was a keen runner who was part of Bradford Athletics, taking part in the Three Peaks challenge while still at school.
He spent some time studying religion at the college of Oxford and eventually went on to be an executive officer at the Ministry of Works and met Maureen.
Maureen is now 90 and spent a lot of her younger years working various jobs and travelling.
She most notably remembers working for Yorkshire copper works.
Maureen met John when she was in her early 30s while working as a temp at John’s place of work.
Maureen said:
We spent 10 wonderful years courting and got married in December 1981.
Home Manager Michaela Jessop said:
It is lovely to see John and Maureen still enjoying their lives together after all this time and celebrating Valentine’s Day at our wonderful home.
