Anchor colleagues triumph in regional finals Great British Care Awards
We are proud to announce that Nadyne Roberts, representing Selkirk House care home in Plymouth claimed the Care Newcomer Award at the South West regional final held in Bristol and Jill Wiseman won the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Yorkshire regional final held in Leeds.
The Great British Care Awards honour individuals who have gone the extra mile to help improve the lives of residents within their care.
Judges praised Nadyne, Care Assistant at Anchor, for how she prioritised the people in her care last Christmas. Nadyne ensured all the people she supports were able to communicate with their love once, utilising technology when needed. For example, one person had a virtual Christmas dinner with their family who lived in Canada. District Manager Brenda Roach said:
This is a wonderful achievement by Nadyne who fully deserves this recognition of her passion and ability.
Nadyne is an asset to Selkirk House. She’s an incredible part of our team and is a joy to work with.
Judges concluded that Jill, District Manager at Anchor, deserved the award for her work at Gills Top care home in Skipton.
Director of Care Services in the North Linda Green said:
This is a wonderful achievement by Jill who fully deserves this recognition of her passion and ability. Everyone at Anchor will be rooting for her come the national final in March.
Jill was delighted to win at the regional final, saying:
It’s amazing! I was so happy just to be nominated but I honestly can’t believe I’ve won! I love doing what I do and it’s wonderful to be recognised by the judges in the Outstanding Contribution Award category.
I'm just so grateful to everyone who nominated and supported me in getting to this stage. I hope I do Yorkshire proud at the upcoming national finals!
Following their wins, Nadyne and Jill will advance on to the national final at the ICC in Birmingham, which takes place on March 14 2025.
