From the first phone call to enquire about availability to nan's last day at the home, all staff I encountered were welcoming and accommodating. Nan was well looked after and fed very well. When she became poorly the staff not only cared for her but looked after myself and my dad (asking if we wanted tea/coffee or anything to eat, whilst we were sa… t with her). I cannot thank them enough for all their support and kind words at the end. Anyone who stays here will have the best time and be looked after very well.

Mum spent the last year and half in St Anne's. Sadly she passed away in December 2025. I cannot fault the staff as mum loved them and they went above and beyond and built a great relationship with her. As a family we also built a great relationship too and really appreciated how they all took care of our mum. They really care for the residents. … Sadly the dynamics have changed and it felt like the budget was being squeezed and staff were not as happy as before. They didn't hold a Xmas fair, or raffle in December and they removed the little shop that was there for residents. Also, they recently stopped the cinema evenings which it was clear the residents loved. I raised a concern regarding the cleanliness of the room, which was dealt with and the team they have now are amazing. Mum said it was the cleanest her room had been. I just hope that Anchor recognise what great staff they have and make them feel appreciated and that they can overcome the issues. Thank you so very much x

My mother's experience at St Anne's Care Home was exemplary. Josie stayed for an initial week as respite. My initial contact and introduction was with a lady called Sharon. She was brilliant, very welcoming, informative and pulled all the strings to make everything so very easy. Josie was greeted upon her arrival but management and members of staff… . A very nice way to start her experience. The room and her meals were very good, and entertainment was twice a day, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were all polite, smart and just lovely. Many, many thanks to you all. A five star experience. Josie hopes to see you all again soon.

The home continues to provide a caring and safe environment. My father passed away at the start of September, and the staff could not have been more supportive of both Mum and the rest of the family. Excellent service.

My mother stayed here for a 2 week respite with the option of ongoing care here! As soon as we walked though the door it was homely and welcoming! Her room was clean and spacious even had a little kitchenette so she could have a little bit of independence if she wanted it! The dining room, Day room and tv room are bright and airy, and all in the 19… 50's style with was lovely! The food looked amazing! The staff went above and beyond to help her settle in and make her feel safe and welcome! I would love to be in a home like this when my time comes! Thank you St Anns for making it so nice for mum and for making a stressful situation into an easy one!

My mother was fortunate to spend the final 2 and a half years of her life in this care home. When you walk through the doors, it feels so different to the archetypal care home. It's light, bright and modern, no unpleasant aromas and a cheerful welcome from all the staff you encounter. It feels like a hotel rather than a residential home. My mother… 's room was amazing. Ensuite facilities and a small kitchenette which made her feel self contained and safe. She valued her privacy and this was very important in helping her settle and feel at home. She had a choice of eating in the dining room with the other residents or staying in her room. The staff always facilitated her choices and she appreciated their efforts. The food is exemplary and of a high standard. My mother passed away in June and our family are indebted to all the amazing staff at St Annes. They were compassionate, kind, empathetic and cared for us too. It is a great comfort to our family; we shall be eternally grateful.

Dad has been at St Anne's for 18months now and he's very happy here. I can't fault St Anne's- the staff from top to bottom are all amazing. Communication is excellent, care first class, food very good and all cooked on site by wonderful kitchen staff. GP response to requests for Primary care is very good.

The following extra items and services are not covered by the weekly fees, however we can arrange for them to be provided (at an additional cost):
- professional hairdressing
- personal copies of newspapers or magazines
- personal purchases such as stationery, confectionery, toiletries etc.
- clothing, shoes and slippers

In the absence of free provision by the NHS, we can also arrange for the following healthcare services to be provided, these will be charged in addition to the weekly fees:
- chiropody
- optometry
- dentistry

Anchor 2025 Christmas and New Year opening times

Over the 2025 festive period our teams will still be on hand to answer your queries. Find out more about changes to our opening times.

Welcoming you

To start your enquiry simply click 'Enquire now' at the top of the page and either call us or complete an online enquiry form.

We know only too well how daunting and emotional the decisions are for everyone when considering care, which is why our team are here to help every step of the way.

We’ll provide you with full details of the home, along with any other information you’d like, such as sample menus and activity schedules, as well as explain how you can arrange a viewing.

Whether you’re looking to stay with us permanently, or for a short break, we’d be delighted to take you on a show round of the home in person. Simply book a visit with the home manager once you’ve made your enquiry.

If you or your loved one doesn’t live nearby or are unable to visit in person we can provide a virtual show round. Either way, we’re keen to show you what daily life is like here and for you to meet our friendly team.

We hope you decide, following your visit, that you or your loved one would like to move into the home, in which case we’ll organise a pre-assessment to make sure we can meet all your care needs.

Guide to visiting a care home for the first time

Visiting a care home is one of the most important steps in deciding whether it’s the right place for you or your loved one. In our homes we will ensure your visit will be welcoming, informative and reassuring, so you can feel confident about your choice. To help you get the most from your time visiting our homes, we've written an easy to follow online guide to visiting a care home.

We hope you decide, following your visit, that you or your loved one would like to move into the home, in which case we’ll organise a pre-assessment to make sure we can meet all your care needs.

You may already have had a care needs assessment from the local authority and have a care plan in place which can be a useful starting point for our conversations, so we will ask about these. Our pre-assessment is a chance for us to find out more about you, the challenges you face and the way you like to live your life. It's a conversation about how our team could work with you to support your needs, independence, and wellbeing.

Once you are confident in your choice of new home, our friendly onsite teams will discuss every aspect of moving-in with you in detail to make sure you know exactly what to expect.

This way you can feel confident, safe and welcomed in the knowledge that you or your loved one will be happy and supported in your new home.

Before you move in, we will find out if there are any of your possessions that you wish us to place in your room before you arrive. Please bring your family photographs and most treasured possessions to help make your room your home.

Our care homes are dedicated to helping our residents maintain links in the local area and with their loved ones. We understand how important visits are to help your loved one settle in and we welcome regular visits from family and friends.

We also actively support residents living with us to enjoy visits away from their new home into the local area and to nearby places of interest.

Each of our homes is different and the manager of the care home you’re interested in will provide all the information you need around visiting.
