Anchor opens affordable housing development for later life in Peterborough
This week we were excited to unveil our brand-new development, The Brambles in Peterborough.
The opening event was attended by new residents at the development, Anchor colleagues, as well as representatives from Deeley Construction, Peterborough City Council, and Homes England.
Located in Peterborough, The Brambles provides 80 high-quality apartments exclusively for people aged over 60. The new homes comprise 56 one and two-bedroom social rent and 24 two-bedroom Older Persons Shared Ownership apartments.
The new development offers modern communal spaces including a residents’ lounge and kitchen, library, activity room, guest suite, and landscaped communal gardens, with each home benefitting from a private patio or balcony. The homes have been built to a sustainable standard, with energy-saving measures including underfloor heating in the apartments and air source heat pumps.
James Chatt-Collins, Director of Sales at Anchor, commented:
The Brambles has been thoughtfully designed to support independent living in later life, providing residents with access to modern shared spaces and amenities. The development has proven hugely successful, with all the sales apartments having been reserved ahead of the official opening. It’s wonderful to see the popularity of the development, reflecting the importance of providing high-quality affordable apartments for later living.
Martin Gallagher, Managing Director at Deeley Construction, said:
This is the first scheme we have completed in partnership with Anchor and it has been fantastic working together to deliver high-quality affordable homes for people in Hampton.
We worked closely with Anchor and the wider design team from the outset to design and build a scheme that is highly sustainable and will help provide efficient homes for residents.
We look forward to seeing The Brambles become home to its first residents and to watching the new community develop in Hampton.
Councillor Neil Boyce, cabinet member for adult services for Peterborough City Council, added:
The effect of poor housing on mental and physical health can’t be underestimated, which is why it’s brilliant to have such a high-quality development in Peterborough.
Providing comfortable housing is a top priority and The Brambles is a prime example of this. It was a pleasure to attend the opening ceremony and I hope the new residents are settling in well.
