Anchor Hanover expands with acquisition of high-quality homes
Anchor Hanover has taken on five high-quality homes previously owned and run by Hadrian Healthcare Group.
The homes, in Yorkshire and County Durham, provide a total of 382 en-suite rooms for older people, including older people with dementia. The deal brings the total number of care homes operated by Anchor Hanover up to 114.
It includes Wetherby Manor care home, which was named by Knight Frank as UK Luxury Care Home 2018, and The Manor House in Barnard Castle which was a finalist in the 2017 International Design Awards, run by the Society of British and International Design.
The five homes are:
- The Manor House, Barnard Castle
- Wetherby Manor, Wetherby
- The Manor House, Knaresborough
- Oulton Manor, Leeds
- The Manor House, Harrogate
Four of the care homes are rated good by the Care Quality Commission with The Manor House in Harrogate, which was opened late last year, awaiting inspection by the regulator.
More than 330 colleagues will be moved over to Anchor Hanover under the TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment) Regulations.
In conjunction with the acquisition of the business by Anchor Hanover, the properties were acquired by the Lime Property Fund managed by Aviva Investors. Each home is subject to a lease to Anchor Hanover providing for a secure 35-year term and an option for Anchor Hanover to extend this term for a further 10 years.
Mark Greaves, Anchor Hanover’s Managing Director – Care Services, said: “Both Anchor Hanover and Hadrian Healthcare are organisations which are committed to high-quality, person-centred care – and we look forward to these homes becoming a key part of our care home offering. The addition of these five homes will broaden our provision of quality care in the North of England.
“Anchor Hanover is England’s largest provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life - with eight homes rated ‘outstanding’ by the regulator, the Care Quality Commission.”
Anchor merged with Hanover Housing Association in November 2018 to form Anchor Hanover.
