Lisa Owens
Care Home Manager
Hi my name is Lisa and I have worked for Anchor for 15 years but have worked in the health and social care sector for 25 years. Before becoming the manager at Oulton Manor I worked at Millfield care home in Manchester. During the 14 years I was there i progressed from Team Leader to Home Manager and lead the home successfully for 4 years. I am very passionate about care and believe everybody deserves quality living. I am really looking forward to steering our home forward to achieve its best potential and delivering excellent care to all those who choose to live at Oulton Manor.

Nicola Wood
Deputy Manager
I have worked at Oulton Manor since June 2018. In November 2024 I was appointed as a Deputy Manager working alongside the Home Manager to ensure safe, well-led, effective and responsive care and compliance throughout the home. Caring is a vocation for me and cannot imagine doing anything else. When I am not at work I love spending time with my family; I have two granddaughters whom I adore. To relax I enjoy shopping and holidays abroad.

Hello I’m Susie, I joined Oulton Manor in January 2025. I am trained in complementary therapies and have had my own business for several years. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my son and husband; we are a very musical family and go to lots of gigs together.

A review from the daughter of an Oulton Manor resident
“When I went into Oulton Manor, I was blown away. It was like nothing I had ever seen, and Mum has been incredibly well looked after the whole time she has been there. She has dementia and has had some difficult times, but the staff have been wonderful. If ever there have been any issues, the manager's door has always been open, and things have been changed and altered to make Mum's life easier and more comfortable. The decor and rooms are amazing, the food is varied and good and the entertainment is varied. The staff really do care. They are quick to get in touch to pass on feedback and send photographs by email, they offer Skype calls and their dedication during the current pandemic has been incredible. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.”

Shaping a career in care: The role and responsibilities of the Service Improvement team
Asa Johnson is Anchor’s National Service Improvement Manager and leads a team of Service Improvement Advisors. In his blog, he shares how he came into the role and his day-to-day responsibilities.
From Monday 12th to Sunday 18th May it’s Mental Health Awareness Week. This year, the theme is 'community'. Being part of a community can make life feel more meaningful and enjoyable, help us feel happier and safer, and improve our mental health. Today at Anchor - Oulton Manor we had lots of walks outside and a crafting group making some fabulous cards together. This afternoon it was Monday Mocktails and Milkshakes on the patio where we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine and blue skies. We took some time to sit together, chat to our friends and just be. Whatever you’ve been up to today don’t forget to carve out a little time for yourself and do something that supports your wellbeing.

facebookA huge thank you to these two stars for helping us assemble 16 cake stands to get ready for our celebratory VE Day lunch yesterday ⭐️ ⭐️
We had such a wonderful day of celebration yesterday for the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. The morning kicked off with the entire home being filled with music that captured the spirit of Victory in Europe Day.
facebookOur morning was filled with a VE Day quiz, word searches, and lovely reminiscence sessions filled with childhood stories from the end of the war. It was an honour and privilege to listen to our residents share their memories full of emotional moments but also lots of laughs.
Yesterday Anchor - Oulton Manor Care Home had the privilege of hosting a Dying Matters event with the help of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Co-op Funeralcare.
facebookThis important day brought staff, residents families, and professionals together to open up conversations around death, dying and bereavement, topics that touch us all but are often left unspoken. Through thoughtful discussions, shared stories, and informative sessions, we helped to break the taboo and encourage a more compassionate, open approach to end-of-life care.

Next week is national dying matters week. Death and dying is a topic that divides people as we do not all have the same attitudes, views and practices, but it is important we acknowledge that and use the local services around us to inform ourselves and our loved ones of our wishes 🕊
