Help keep everyone safe - how to prevent unwanted fire alarms
Unwanted fire alarms can be disruptive and worrying for everyone. The good news is that a few simple steps can help reduce false alarms and keep our homes safe and comfortable.
- When cooking, if possible, open a window to let cooking fumes or steam escape
- If possible, keep kitchen doors closed, especially when frying food, grilling or using the toaster
- After showering, let steam clear by opening a window or having the extractor fan on (if you have one).
Other things that can trigger alarms
Some everyday items can also set off smoke alarms if used nearby:
- Vapes
- Air fresheners
- Hair sprays
Try to use these away from smoke detectors where possible.
Working together, we can:
- Reduce unwanted alarms
- Keep our homes safe and comfortable
- Look out for one another
By making a few small changes, you can help create a safer and more comfortable place for everyone. If you have any concerns, please speak to your location manager.
