Twyford resident shares his passion for art
Trevor Twaite is a resident of Treachers Court in Twyford and a skilled pencil artist.
Trevor has lived with Anchor since March 2011 and has drawn streets and local landmarks in all the places he has lived at. Many of his pieces of artwork have been auctioned off and the money raised has gone to charity. Trevor also accepts commissions from potential buyers with the prices varying depending on size and difficulty, and has sold paintings in countries as far away as Australia.
Over the years he has created an array of different pieces of art and enjoys trying different techniques and materials which has resulted in a vibrant and unique collection.
As well as being a talented artist, Trevor has also led a very interesting life. His younger years were young years were spent in the entertainment industry in a group that supported such acts as the Hollies, Joe Brown, Dave De Dozy Beaky Mick, and Titch. Before he retired he was running his own company in the construction industry.
Trevor has written a book about his life and a friend has made it into a book, although whether he will share it with a wider audience remains to be seen.
Speaking about his passion for art, Trevor said:
I started drawing when I retired at aged 66 in 2010. I find it very therapeutic which allows me to relax and feel better about everything, especially about any situation that made me unhappy before. My favourite painting to date is Tewkesbury of years gone by and my favourite material to use is pencil, although I quite like watercolour too.
We have shared some of Trevor’s artwork but you can find more pieces on his Facebook page here.
