Residents share festive moments across Anchor care homes in Manchester
Residents and colleagues at care homes across Manchester are embracing the festive spirit in style.
From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity is bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness. These celebrations are a wonderful reminder of the positive impact creativity and community can have on people’s wellbeing during the festive season.
Homes across the region – including Hatton Grange, Beechfield Lodge, Israel Sieff Court, Lightbowne Hall and Wellington Lodge - kicked off their festive celebrations with their spectacular Christmas lights switch-ons. Residents have also been busy creating their own decorations to hang on their care homes’ Christmas trees.
The annual tradition of the Christmas light switch-on is a much-loved moment in the lead-up to Christmas, bringing joy to residents and the local community. This year, Councillor Shibley Alam, Mayor of Hythe, officially switched on the Christmas lights at Hatton Grange – marking a memorable moment for residents and the community alike. The Christmas light switch-on was followed by a delicious buffet of food and drinks, which residents enjoyed over chats about their favourite cherished Christmas memories. Hatton Grange will also be hosting a Christmas party, guaranteed to get everyone dancing and singing together.
Angela Brown, Home Manager at Hatton Grange, says:
We’re having so much fun celebrating Christmas this year at Hatton Grange, bringing our residents, their families and the local community together for an exciting programme of activities throughout December. We really cherish this time of year - it’s a chance for us all to come together and reminisce on nostalgic memories, whilst creating new ones. The Christmas lights switch-on was such a highlight this year and was made even more special with a visit by Councillor Shibley Alam.
Edith, resident at Hatton Grange, says:
What a wonderful time we’re having this December with all the Christmas fun that’s been going on at Hatton Grange. The Christmas light switch-on has made our home look so magical, officially marking the start of the festive season.
