Residents at Fred Tibble Court start collection for Dogs Trust

Many of the residents at Fred Tibble Court in Dagenham have adopted pets from the Dogs Trust and this Christmas want to show their thanks. 

We understand there are many benefits to pet ownership, they provide love, companionship, and a way to connect with others. Residents at Fred Tibble Court were discussing their own pets and this inspired conversations of how they can help animals in need this Christmas. After a chat with the Estate Manager, Sarah Dunlop, they decided to get involved with the Shoebox Appeal. 

The Shoebox Appeal is  run by the Hope Project alongside Dogs Trust and distributes gifts and pet essentials such as blankets and food in shoeboxes to owners who are homeless.

Doris and her husband adopted a dog from the Dogs Trust, and she said:

I felt I was doing something good by adopting and not buying a new puppy, I am helping another dog.

Colleagues at Fred Tibble Court have adopted from Dogs Trust too, which Estate Manager Sarah Dunlop saying:

My family have adopted Bernie 7 years ago and although he had a nervous disorder we have never looked back. We felt that if we had not given him a chance he wouldn’t be here today as he barks all the time. But he is so loving and friendly and so good with our grandchildren. I never regret a day we have had with him.

Residents have started contributing to the appeal with enthusiasm and look forward to delivering the shoeboxes in person to the centre in Wickford closer to Christmas.
