Residents and carers team up for West Hall care home Christmas displays

Residents and carers recently teamed up at West Hall care home in West Byfleet to create illuminated spaces inspired by their favourite Christmas traditions. 

Once the lights had been officially switched on earlier last week, residents were then also accompanied around the grounds, allowing each team to share the story behind their display. 

Customer Relations Manager of West Hall, Andy Jarman, said the residents absolutely love Christmas and whilst it will be celebrated differently this year the event was such a success that they will make it an annual tradition. He said:

It’s important to organise meaningful activities for our residents as these boost their mental and physical well-being as well as being fun! The residents were central to the organisation of this event, having worked together to create ideas for the decorations.

West Hall resident John Ryan, 86, said he enjoyed seeing everyone’s individual efforts: 

I was very impressed with the Wonderland and all the benches were fantastic. The staff and other residents have put in an amazing effort to make the benches stand out and I am especially looking forward to seeing more trees in the home.
